DIWire Bender: 3D Printer That Bends Wires

While regular 3D printers are well known for their plastic printing techniques, a new type of 3D printer does something completely different. The DIWire Bender bends wires and it transforms 3D computer line drawings into bent wire in order to make anything you want to: clocks, furniture, jewelry or any product that uses wires.

This device can help users to bend various metals and plastics. Instead of only printing plastic, a thing ordinary 3D printers mostly do, it mainly uses metal materials, such as steel, aluminium, copper and brass. Another advantage with respect to ordinary 3D printers is that the regular 3D printers have limitations to the size of the products they’re making, while the DIWire Bender can build products that can be as long as a wire could be.

Also useful about the DIWire Bender is that users can easily use the device. You simply draw a curve in the computer and export your file as .svg, whereafter you just drag ‘n drop the .svg-file into the DIWire Bender, which will analyze and prepare the file so it enables itself to bend the wire. It only takes a few minutes to  get your own 3D printed wire model. As a user you can then clip the wires together and solder it if necessary.

Interested potential users can pledge the project to get their own copy of the DIWire Bender for 2,750 dollars on Kickstarter. It’s the teams aim to raise at least 100,000 dollars for this project. After only one day the team has already raised more than 86,000 dollars. Here’s a video about the revolutionary DIWire Bender:
